Lighting for Mood in Filmmaking

In this filmmaking class, Karl demonstrates how to use lighting ratios to achieve different moods in your videos.

The key is finding the right balance of light and shadow for the mood you want to create. To help you do that, Karl sets up an interview-style shoot and demonstrates a variety of different lighting setups using a selection of lights, modifiers and props.

The effects he achieves range from soft, bright and airy to dark and mysterious. By the end of the class, you’ll understand how to create those same moods in your own videos.

In this class:

  • Lighting for mood in filmmaking and videography
  • Lighting ratios

    1. Hi, these were just F160 LED (160W). Not very powerful for video by any means, 400 or 600 would be more common and you will see these in other classes.
