Landscape Photography at Sunset

On his final night in Paris, Karl heads to the Louvre Museum at sunset – a time when, although spectacular, there is still a fair number of people walking around.

Karl explains a useful technique to ensure you don’t capture these people in your final image, as well as how to use both graduated and neutral density filters. He also talks about setting your white balance in camera, and why it can be a good idea.

He then heads to Place de le Concorde for some more night photography. You’ll learn how to capture that beautiful star burst effect as well as achieve beautiful motion blur in water.

In this class:

  • Travel photography
  • How to photograph at sunset
  • Planning: How to identify good locations for photography
  • How to use filters for sunset photography
  • Adjusting white balance
  • Camera settings for night photography

    1. Hi yes it is. I don’t understand what you mean, I just set the lens to f32 to get an f32 fstop (you set it from the camera of course) not all lens go as small as f32, some stop at f22.

    1. Hi Abu, this is a very long exposure time and during that time the people have moved as they are walking so they do not record themselves unless they stood still for the whole exposure time.

    1. Hi Akansh, it helps if you have a ‘good eye’ for a picture but often it’s about solving problems and you can train yourself in these things.

    1. Hi Gina, I always use the lowest ISO (or the default ISO) whenever I can, as this will give me the best quality image. Revert to our introduction to photography course for more information on that topic. The equipment list for all shoot is on the page below the video. Thank you.
