Rim lighting product photography

Cutlery

Something we use every day, cutlery is a popular subject for still life photography. Not only are these common household utensils a great item to get creative with, but they’ll also really test your understanding and control of light. From antique knives and forks to modern serving spoons, there’s no shortage of things you could use, which means there’s no excuse not to push your creativity to the limit. With such simple objects, however, lighting and composition are key. Make sure to carefully consider each of these when you plan your shot. What might seem like ‘little details’, can actually make a big difference.

    Hello Ben. Nothing to lose any sleep over, obviously, but take the top three thumbnails, for example. If I hover/click to see who’s image it is, all three show up as by Andrey Petrov. This happens in other area of the thumbnails, too. The top-right one is mine, so I know not by Andrey. 🙄

      Hi David, thanks for letting us know and apologies for the error. I have updated the image with your name. Before we introduced the submission form, we used to pull all Weekly Challenge images from our members’ Facebook group, which is why you may see multiple images from some photographers.
