'Macro' Competition Winners

Here are the winners of our 'Macro' photography competition.

For our October competition we were transported into the close up world of Macro photography.

From close ups of all manner of insects to wonderful product images, our members submitted a wide variety of images that I had to choose from.

Members stood a chance of winning a Lee Filters Foundation Kit (first prize), a Lee Filters Big Stopper (second prize) and a Lee Filters Long Exposure Kit (third prize).

We received a number of great images and narrowing it down to a final shortlist was no easy task. For the winning image I was looking for interesting subjects, sharpness in the detail, good lighting as well as interesting composition.

The winner of the Lee Filters Long Exposure Kit is...

1st Prize

Benjamin Poizat 1st Prize
Lee Filters Foundation Kit prize

1st Place - Benjamin Poizat

Benjamin's image of this spider, taken in his back garden, is a spectacular example of macro photography. It's a striking image with lovely composition and good contrast and I thought the element of the web drawing you in worked really well.

2nd Prize

Barry Amos 2nd Prize
Lee Filters Big Stopper prize

2nd Place - Barry Amos

Second prize, a Lee Filters Big Stopper, was won by Barry. I thought the light on the subject was beautiful and, combined with the colour,  composition and detail, it made for a really eye catching image.

3rd Prize

Neville Mountford-Hoare 3rd Prize
Lee Filters long exposure kit

3rd Place - Neville Mountford-Hoare

The detail in this lovely, clean watch image, submitted by Neville, was very impressive and very well deserving of a spot in the top three.

  1. Hi,
It would be very appreciated if you could show all the entries of each competition and not only the short listed ones and the winners. I believe that all participants will love to see everybody’s shots.

    Thank you,

    1. Hi Nicky, I’m afraid that wouldn’t be possible as they often run into several hundred and sometimes over a thousand. We are however considering a public voting system to create the shortlist which may require a subsection of the website, if we do that then it may possible.
