Photography Challenge - Week 46
2nd February - 9th February 2021
If you’re looking to try new things and improve your photography, why not get involved in our weekly challenges? Achievable whether you work with natural light or studio light, our weekly challenges are designed to encourage you to get creative, practice your skills and develop new techniques. If you’ve missed any of the previous challenges, you can view them all here.
This week's challenge is...
How to get creative
With 45 weeks of challenges behind us, things aren’t getting any easier, and this week we’re challenging you to photograph sunglasses.
These reflective products, with their curved shapes and multi-textural surfaces, can be tricky to photograph, but the good news is that you don’t need to be a pro or have a lot of equipment to get good results.
If you have a good understanding of light, a couple of studio lights, a tripod, diffusion material, and some reflectors, then you’ll be able to do this week’s challenge.
Keep in mind the basics of product photography this week: analyse the product to determine the best features and shooting angle; choose the right lens (use extension tubes if you need to); fix your camera on a tripod; and use mirrors, reflectors or flags if you need additional lighting control.
Below are a few classes that may help with this week’s challenge.
About the challenge
We’d love for all our members to get involved in our weekly challenges, but to ensure everyone gets maximum benefit from these, there are a few guidelines...
- Members can submit any one image (taken at any time) for the challenge but in the spirit of the challenge we encourage you to post images taken during the week. A second image can be uploaded to show this (i.e with your phone in shot with the date showing).
- All images submitted to our Facebook group will be displayed in a members gallery on Karl Taylor Education.
- Images should be 2000px on the longest side.
